PD&R provides analytical support for HUD's regulatory oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Government Sponsored Enterprises that comprise the secondary mortgage market. Activities include analysis that helps HUD set affordable housing goals for the GSEs, a substantial research program examining the GSEs' mortgage purchase activities, and analysis of the fair lending implications of the GSEs' automated underwriting systems.
