Affordable Housing Back in Play

The New York Times (6/8) reports, "After a long recessionary torpor, an incentive program intended to help communities create affordable housing appears to be on the verge of revival. Called HOMEConnecticut, the state program was just taking off in 2008 when its financing was reduced and the housing market went into free fall." The program has about $1 million left, and its administrators say they are ready to resume making grants. They have "asked lawmakers to allow it more flexibility in determining the size of grants so that it can stretch its scarce dollars across more communities."
