New playground equipment is finally going up at Wilder Elementary School in Grand Forks after the old equipment was destroyed when a truck crashed into it in 2009. Eric Burin, UND professor and recently elected member of the Grand Forks School Board, said the vast majority of the project’s funding came from the Wilder Elementary Parent Teacher Organization. The group raised about $27,000 and the school also received a $100,000 Community Development Block Grant through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The playground will include new playground equipment, a covered shelter with four picnic tables and an area with trees and bushes.
