HUD SECRETARY'S HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DESIGN AWARDS

The Housing and Custom Residential Committee Knowledge Community of The American Institute of Architects (AIA), in conjunction with the Office of the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, created an awards program to recognize the best in residential housing design.

This award recognizes projects that embrace and demonstrate the revitalizing potential of mixed-use and mixed-income housing developments.

HUD SECRETARY'S AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN HISTORIC PRESERVATION

Each year the National Trust for Historic Preservation celebrates the best of preservation by presenting National Preservation Awards to individuals and organizations whose contributions demonstrate outstanding achievements in historic preservation. This year the National Trust and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are presenting a new award, the "HUD Secretary's Award for Excellence In Historic Preservation."

The "HUD Secretary's Award for Excellence In Historic Preservation" recognizes organizations and agencies for their success in advancing the goals of historic preservation while providing affordable housing and/or expanded economic opportunities, particularly for low- and moderate-income families and individuals.

HUD SECRETARY'S OPPORTUNITY AND EMPOWERMENT AWARD

The Department of Housing and Urban Development in partnership with the American Planning Association (APA), announces the "HUD Secretary's Opportunity and Empowerment Award" as part of APA's annual National Awards for Planning. The "HUD Secretary's Opportunity and Empowerment Award" recognizes excellence in planning that has led to measurable benefits in terms of increased economic, employment, education, or housing choice or mobility for low- and moderate-income residents.
