| Description |
This report highlights strategies to preserve low-income housing near public transportation, which the report identifies as the second highest household expense. Based on an eight-city survey, the report states that creating and preserving affordable housing in close proximity to transit facilities can help decrease the cost of living for low-income families. To preserve these low-income housing units, the report urges states and cities to prioritize allocation of tax credits to save affordable housing near transit, create acquisition funds to support rehabilitation of these units, and to maintain and extend existing transit facilities. |
