| Description |
This document contains a number of questions and answers concerning grants available under the state’s tax relief program. Some of the issues covered include program eligibility and the application process. Basic eligibility requirements include being at least 50 or 65 and a surviving spouse of a renter, or receiving Social Security or comparable disability benefits, have an income in 2001 of not more than $31,100 and have a five percent of income not exceed 35 percent of rent and utility payments.
The instruction booklet also provides information on when and where a renter may apply for the grant. Several of the questions provide details on how those with disabilities qualify for the grant. The balance of the booklet covers such topics as types of rental units that qualify for the program, income and expense documentation, and computation of credits due.
