International Housing Finance Policy Roundtable

HUD's Office of Policy Development and Research recently gathered experts in international housing finance for a roundtable discussion of the current U.S. subprime mortgage crisis. Secretary Alfonso Jackson initiated this roundtable to examine global implications of the housing market slowdown and rising foreclosure rate. Participants from the World Bank, the China Development Financial Holding Corporation of Taiwan, Mexico's Sociedad Hipotecaria Federal, the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, and the Bank for International Settlements shared insights on the origins of the current crisis and its effects on international markets.
